Notes

  • This Faculty has a Language Center that provides examinations and courses to obtain the English proficiency certificate.
  • Through the Computer Center, the Faculty provides examinations to obtain the corresponding computing proficiency certificate.
  • Documents issued abroad must be legalized by the Mexican Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin.
  • Foreign students whose native language is not Spanish must submit a Spanish reading comprehension certificate issued by UNAM.
  • Documents not written in Spanish must be translated into Spanish by an officially certified translator. The original translation must be submitted for validation.


Admission Selection Process

The Master’s Admission Selection Process consists of six consecutive stages:

  1. Applicant registration and electronic submission of documents
  2. Submission of physical documentation
  3. Payment of registration and applicant examination fees
  4. Interview
  5. Skills and aptitude examination
  6. Previous knowledge examination

National Applicants: 20 times the current general minimum wage in Mexico City.
International Applicants: 60 times the current general minimum wage in Mexico City.


Required Documentation for Registration

  • Original and three photocopies of the professional degree certificate (letter size, both sides on the same page).
  • Original and three photocopies of the professional license (letter size, both sides on the same page).
  • Original and three photocopies of the undergraduate academic transcript showing a minimum GPA of 8.0 (eight). If the GPA is not specified, an official GPA certificate must be attached.
  • An official GPA certification letter issued by the applicant’s institution.
  • Original and three photocopies of the certified birth certificate (both sides).
  • Original and three photocopies of the CURP.
  • Original and three photocopies of the English reading comprehension certificate accredited by UNAM.
  • Original and three photocopies of the computing skills certificate (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations) accredited by UNAM during the years 2007 or 2008.
  • Curriculum Vitae in original and three copies, updated and originally signed (maximum three pages).
  • Statement of purpose addressed to the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Administrative Sciences, originally signed.
  • Three passport-size color photographs with white background, with the applicant’s name written on the back.
  • Original and photocopy of the payment receipt issued at the cashier’s office of Campo Cuatro FES-Cuautitlán.
  • For international applicants: legalized documentation and notarized photocopy of the immigration document (FM3) proving legal residence in the country as a student, together with a simple photocopy.
Document reception for applicants and all procedures:
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Master’s programs are offered every semester.


Requirements to Participate in the Selection Process

  • Submit all required documentation.
  • Hold an undergraduate degree.
  • Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 8.0.
  • Have passed the English reading comprehension requirement at UNAM.
  • Have accredited computing knowledge (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations) at UNAM within two years before or after the application date.
  • Complete the four stages of the Selection Process.


Basic Guidelines for the Selection Process

  • Payment is the sole responsibility of the applicant and is non-refundable.
  • Incomplete or late documentation will not be accepted under any circumstances.
  • Registration procedures must be carried out personally by the applicant.
  • Legal action will be taken against applicants who submit altered or falsified documents, and their selection process will be automatically canceled.
  • If the applicant does not complete the Selection Process, it will be understood that they have withdrawn from it.
  • Decisions made by the Admissions Subcommittee regarding admission are final and non-appealable.

Interview

The interview evaluates five criteria:

  • Behavior during the interview


Skills Examination

The skills examination evaluates academic aptitude through:

  • Abstract reasoning
  • Verbal analogical reasoning
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Mathematical reasoning
  • Reading comprehension
The purpose of the skills examination is to assess the applicant’s potential for strategy design, decision-making, information transfer to the business context, as well as metacognitive skills in everyday life.

General Objective of the Master’s Degree in Administration
To train graduates who can perform as managers and/or consultants, capable of participating in decision-making processes and formulating and implementing strategies applied to the creation, organization, management, promotion, and development of organizations within a framework of ethics and social responsibility.


Specific Objectives in the Field of Organizational Administration
To train professionals in administration for the management, development, consulting, and promotion of organizations within a framework of ethics and social responsibility, strengthening their analytical capacity for the formulation and implementation of strategies, as well as developing leadership, negotiation, and teamwork management skills for problem-solving and decision-making.


Duration of Studies and Total Credits
The expected time to complete all academic activities is four semesters for full-time students and six semesters for part-time students, including graduation.

Credit-bearing academic activities must be completed during the first three semesters for full-time students and within five semesters for part-time students. During the fourth and sixth semesters respectively, students must complete and pass the academic activity oriented toward obtaining the degree before the end of those semesters.


Structure and Organization of Studies
The structure and organization of the curriculum for the Master’s Degrees in Administration and Finance are based on the fields of knowledge of each program. Likewise, the programs are supported by a tutoring system in which the student and tutor jointly design the individual academic plan, considering the criteria established in the general structure of the program.


Types of Academic Activities

Common Mandatory Courses
These courses provide students with a comprehensive vision and basic training in the master’s program regardless of the field of knowledge. They contain the theoretical foundation necessary for any specialization field.

Students must complete four common mandatory academic activities totaling 24 credits.


Mandatory Electives by Field of Knowledge
These academic activities are defined according to each field and serve as a guiding axis, aiming to achieve and combine solid theoretical and advanced training directly related to the corresponding field.

Students must complete four academic activities in this group totaling 24 credits.


Electives by Field of Knowledge

These activities are grouped according to the various fields of knowledge within each master’s program, allowing students to deepen their expertise.

Students must complete four academic activities in this group totaling 24 credits.


Free Electives

Students may choose two academic activities from their own field, other fields within the master’s program, or from graduate study plans at the same institution or other national or international institutions.

Students must complete the remaining 12 credits with two freely chosen academic activities according to their interests.


Graduation-Oriented Academic Activities

These activities are intended to help students develop the written document required for graduation or prepare for obtaining the degree according to the selected graduation option.


Continuation Requirements

  • Successfully complete assigned academic activities within the established deadlines.
  • Before the beginning of each semester, the student and tutor must prepare an academic activity plan that will serve as the basis for enrollment in the specific courses to be taken during the semester, with approval from the principal tutor.
  • Obtain a favorable semester evaluation from the principal tutor.
  • Semester enrollment may include one to five academic activities.
  • Full-time students may switch to part-time status and vice versa at any time.
  • According to Article 22 of the General Regulations for Graduate Studies, once the maximum enrollment period has ended, the Academic Committee may grant an additional period of two consecutive semesters to complete credits and obtain the degree.
Students must complete 100% of the credits and all academic activities established in the curriculum within the deadlines set by the applicable regulations.


Degree Requirements

  • In the case of a thesis or professional written work with oral defense, students must obtain favorable votes from at least four of the five jury members.
  • When applicable, students must pass the general knowledge examination in writing.
Both master’s programs are taught Monday through Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
